bathroom ceiling mold removal

Q: How can I remove bathroom ceiling mold / mildew?

I have a bathroom with mold / mildew on the ceiling. but nothing on the walls. I think I’ve tracked the issue down to using a basic ceiling white paint on the ceiling, but using a better paint on the walls which included a built in fungicide.

OK, I would like to repaint. I plan to use a paint with a fungicide on both the ceiling and walls, but realize that I need to kill the mold spores before doing anything.

It seems that “MoldSTAT Plus : Mold Killer and Cleaner” would be a great thing to spray on the ceiling and walls to kill the mold.

Q1: Does the mold cleaner need to then be cleaned off, or can it be painted over once dried?

Q2: Would it be best to just use the mold killing spray with a gallon garden sprayer?

Q3: If I am spraying over my head, what are the issues with clothing, skin, breathing ….. stuff like that?

Q4:How does this stuff interact with painted wood trim, vinyl floors, etc. I’d probably put down plastic, but it’s just about impossible to guard totally.

A: MoldSTAT Plus is well suited to the ceiling mildew project.

A1: Yes, MoldSTAT Plus would be an ideal product to use to both clean and kill the mildew and mold. Once you have the ceiling area visibly clean, then apply one more pass to ensure that the roots are penetrated. It is not necessary to rinse before painting.

A2: Using a Gallon Garden sprayer is a better option than a spray bottle, because you can use the hose to direct the spray over head, and the jug remains level so you don’t need to worry about spraying air because the mold killing spray is sloshed to one side.

A3:When it comes to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) you need goggles, gloves and long sleeves to prevent breathing, or skin / eye contact.

A4: MoldSTAT Plus (as well as MoldSTAT Barrier) can be used safely on painted wood trim, flooring or other bathroom surfaces. There is no negative interaction other than those surfaces might be cleaned and now make the surrounding areas appear.. well.. less than clean.
